Embarrassed by my mother’s dressing room behavior?

Last night I went to David’s Bridal to try on dresses. My fiancee and I are paying for the wedding, no one else. However, the entire night, my mother was insisting I wear white, and try this dress, and wear that veil when I had gone to the shop with a specific list of dresses I wanted to try on. I ended up leaving after two hours having only tried on three of the ten dresses I had picked out. The poor woman helping us didn’t know who to listen to because my mother KEPT going on with what SHE wanted. How do I handle this?? My friend even tried to step in and explain that with my flowers and bridesmaid dresses and overall color pattern, ivory would be a better compliment than white. It even looks better with my skin!
Yeah well my mother can be very loud and argumentative when I try to tell her I want something a certain way.

You need to set some firm boundaries with your mom. Otherwise, this pattern will continue for the rest of your life. Just imagine, your mom insisting that you buy a certain house, name your child after so and so….
