friend having private wedding, need help?

I am helping my friend organize her private wedding. They only want about 35 people, close friends and family to attend. But are going to have a bbq type reception a week after for all their friends and family. Is it acceptable for her to have a bridal shower, how do you word the invitation to the reception and do they register. We dont have a clue about how private wedding etiquette works. Please help, thanks!

If someone is invited to the wedding, they could be invited to a shower. You can’t have a shower and invite people and then not invite them to the wedding. If they have a shower, they can register somewhere if they want – you can put the store enclosure cards in the shower invitations.
