I want to wear green not white!!?

I really want to wear a green satin dress in my wedding, but I can not find what I am looking for. I don’t want to spend a ton of money, and I am afraid of purchasing it online and then it not fitting like I want it to, I won’t mind purchasing online if I can return it. I live i Richmond VA, so I would think living in a decent sized city there should be somewhere I can go other than davids bridal… any suggestions?

look at dresses labeled “prom” or “quinceanera” or “evening gowns” or even “pageant gowns” and “bridesmaid dresses”.

if that doesn’t work for you then look for a dress pattern you like and find a local seamstress to make it for you. (plenty of seamstresses in Richmond VA for a reasonable cost)

OR
Since you are in Richmond, VA
if you’re feeling adventurous—contact the fashion design & merchandising department at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts and see if an upper classman is willing to design the dress you want and negotiate a price you can afford. Speak to either the department head or one of the instructors for a recommendation &/or permission to place an ad on the department’s bulletin board. Make sure the student shows you a portfolio both of drawings and photos of actual garments they’ve made.

edit:
heck, if you found the pattern you wanted, as long as you supplied them with everything they needed (short of the sewing machine) you could probably hire a fashion design student to be your tailor/seamstess.
