Wedding sweethearts on Depeche Mode Album Art?

I was wondering if the bridal couple on the cover of Depeche Mode’s SOME GREAT REWARD album was one of the bandmembers and his bride — I was thinking it was either Dave Gahan and his wife or Martin Gore and his wife

It is often speculated that Alan is the male on the cover of Some Great Reward, he is not. Nor is he on the cover of “A Question of Lust” which has also received similar speculation.

I never really had any opinion on the cover art for “Some Great Reward”, but your question made me think that it had to do with ‘secretly wanting to be loved’.

The cover shows what looks to be an abandoned factory with a couple dressed ready to be married. No one is around but them and them alone, as if they want no one to know, then the lyrics that come to mind are from the song Somebody: “I want somebody who will put their arms around me and kiss me tenderly, though things like this make me sick, in a case like this, I’ll get away with it.” Then of course (as if it was a couple eloping to get married), “Something To Do”, “Lie to Me”, It Doesn’t Matter”,”Stories of Old”, and “If you want” seem to have a few hints to the cover art as well. But this is just how I interpret it. Everyone interprets things differently.
