Alternatives to throwing confetti for wedding march?

Ok, as you know, people at the wedding reception usually throw confetti at the bridal couple when they walk in the hall…I was wondering if there was anything else we could have thrown instead…Confetti sticks and then can be quite a pain to take off..We thought flowers, but the hall owner is not going to allow that as it is going to mess up the place..Rice or any food items cannot be thrown either…Those string from a can thingys are messy too…And soapy water for bubbles could make an even bigger mess and may even lead to someone falling and getting injured…
